Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
