Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official said the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
